Banks
Open Monday to Friday 08:30 - 15:00; closed Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays. You'll need your passport to exchange traveler’s cheques. Look for the sign "câmbios". Commission is charged per transaction regardless of amount.

Credit Cards / ATM
International credit cards are widely accepted for payment in hotels, restaurants, shops and department stores. Shops and restaurants have stickers at the entrance or signs posted elsewhere to designate which cards are accepted.
ATM machines (Multibanco) are also available to withdraw money. Most ATM’s accept Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus, Maestro and EC cards. Most machines will permit you to withdraw a maximum of € 200 per day.

Not required for EU nationals. Nationals of Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the USA can stay for 90 days visa-free.
